Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Vanesa Farmer, a proud Auburn University alumna, has been practicing veterinary medicine for 9 years. As the owner of Carnesville Animal Hospital, she is passionate about providing exceptional patient care in a friendly and welcoming environment. Dr. Farmer’s commitment extends beyond pets to her team, as she works tirelessly to foster a positive work-life balance that keeps her staff refreshed and excited to come to work every day. Her vision is to build a dedicated team and a practice where pets and their families feel truly at home.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Farmer enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two daughters, Harper and Lillian. Together, they embrace outdoor adventures and traveling. A strong advocate for women in the outdoors, Dr. Farmer actively participates in and leads trips for a group that promotes outdoor experiences for women in both domestic and international settings.

Veterinary Assistant

Sydney is originally from Athens, but is on her way to becoming a proud Carnesville local. She has always had a huge heart for animals – having a little zoo of her own at home with 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a snake! She’s passionate about reading, animal care, and making every furry (or scaly!) friend feel safe and loved. She is excited to be working in veterinary medicine where she gets to combine her love for animals with meaningful, hands-on care. If she’s not cuddling a pup or helping out at the clinic, you can find her curled up with a good book – or spoiling her own little crew! 

Veterinary Assistant

With over seven years of experience in the veterinary field, Jess brings a deep passion for animal care and client education. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and Business from Berry College and has previously worked as a practice manager, gaining valuable insight into both the medical and operational sides of veterinary care. Currently working as a veterinary assistant, she enjoys being hands-on assisting in surgery and is especially passionate about preventative medicine. Outside of work, Jess spends time on the farm tending to her flower and vegetable gardens with her Australian Shepherd, Gunner, as well as her three alpacas. Her well-rounded experience, dedication to animal wellness, and love for both pets and people make her an invaluable part of our team.

Veterinary Assistant

Sarah is originally from Adel, but grew up and graduated in Stephens County where she also showed livestock for several years. She has always had a passion for animals and helping others. With over three years experience in veterinary medicine, she continues to learn new things every day and loves working here at Carnesville. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her Australian Shepherd, Diesel. She also enjoys going to church and spending time with family.

Veterinary Assistant

Jessi has over two years of experience in veterinary medicine, beginning her career in boarding and working her way up to the role of veterinary assistant. She is passionate about providing quality care to pets and supporting their families, bringing both knowledge and compassion to every patient she helps. Outside of the clinic, Jessi enjoys riding and caring for her three horses, playing with her dog, and spending time with family and friends. Her dedication to animals extends beyond her career, reflecting a lifelong commitment to their health and happiness.
